"The Matthew 25 "The King will
reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of
these brothers of mine,
you did for me.'"

Mission
trips add a depth to our service to the human community and help put us
in touch with people who have often suffered great losses. Our trips
also help to cement and grow relationships between people of the church
that have a lasting benefit far after the trip has ended. Anyone wishing to join us on one of our trips is asked to please contact the church office for details.
In 2006 and 2007, our church family traveled
to
Westminster Presbyterian Church
in Gulfport, where each time they spent a week helping to rebuild homes lost in
Hurricane Katrina.
In 2006, the group insulated and drywalled an entire home in
Gulfport. They installed, taped, mudded, and sanded the drywall,
and then painted the interior , preparing it for the
installation of cabinets, fixtures, and baseboard.
In 2007, our mission team primarily helped to re-roof damaged homes.
Some of our mission members also worked at an ecumenical receiving and distribution
warehouse, unloading two 53’ semi-trailers filled with furniture, beds
and bedding, donated from a conference center in Pennsylvania.
They also delivered some of the furniture to residents of Gulfport and
Pass Christian, Mississippi.
Last year, our mission team traveled to New Orleans to do similar work.
Mission Team members stayed at the Oive Tree PDA Camp about 30
minutes from downtown and the French Quarter.
Our mission team members
worked hard, laughed a lot, learned much, cried a little, and very well represented the compassion of Christ
to people still suffering the devastating affects of Katrina

Mission Trips
Youth Mission Trip
To Cedar Rapids, IA
Youth of our church travelled to Cedar Rapids, Iowa to work on homes damaged or destroyed in last summer’s flooding.
This was a work and educational trip to help connect
our youth to the needs of the world and service in the name of Jesus
Christ.
Adult Mission Trip
to New Orleans, LA
July 11-19
Members and friends of DPC headed back to Olive Tree PDA
(Presbyterian Disaster Assitance) Center in July.
They once again, worked on homes damaged by
2005’s Hurricane Katrina. The damage from that storm was so
great
that there was still much work to be done.
If you
are interested in participating in either or both of these
opportunities, please contact the church office or speak
with either Bob
Jensen or Jennifer Franjevic following Sunday worship.
They would love to
talk with you about these
important mission opportunities.
