Confirmation Class
2007-2008
Confirmation Class is set to begin. The class is available to
anyone 7th grade and older as preparation for making their Profession
of Faith in Jesus Christ and joining the church as adult members.
Classes will begin in October and continue to May. Students will
read portions of the Bible, learn about prayer, faith, and grace, the
Presbyterian Church and a variety of other topics related to their
faith journey. Activities will include a class trip, and a
closing retreat.
An
introductory meeting for youth and their parents will be held on
Sunday, September 30 at 10:45 am following worship. It is
expected that all youth who sign up for confirmation will be at this
meeting. Parents: please call the church or see Rev. Jensen
to enroll your youth.
An
additional note: Faith Partners are needed for
Confirmation. Faith Partners are adults in the congregation who
will agree to “walk with” one of our youth throughout the confirmation
year. They will commit to praying for their youth daily,
attending occasional classes, and being willing to share their
faith. See Rev. Jensen for details.

Other Youth Opportunities
Stronghold
Summer Camps
For
forty
years, Presbyterian
youth (ranging in age from those who have competed 1st grade to those
completing
high school) have been attending summer camping sessions that help
teach faith,
self-confidence, teamwork, and a myriad of other life lessons as
campers live
and work and laugh with one another for a week. And
in the midst of all this, the kids have a great
time, too!
Located on the beautiful Rock River
near Oregon Illinois, Stronghold is a camp and conference center of the
Presbyterian Church (USA). The camp offers year-round programs
and retreat facilities.
During the summer, Stronghold Summer Camps
become
the place where
many friendships and memories are born. It is a formative place
for
our children’s growth in faith and love for Jesus. Their goal is
to
provide a safe, nurturing Christian experience for children and youth
as a caring community in a natural environment.
There are camps for
children as young as
Kindergarten and as old as
you want to be for GrandCamp, for grandparents and children ages
5-12.
There are offerings for junior high and senior high age youth, as well,
around a variety of topics, including adventure camps, wilderness
adventure camps, art and music camps, horseback camps, and canoeing
camps.
Our congregation and Milwaukee Presbytery
have each historically
offered scholarships for our children and youth attending.
Brochures
are in the Fellowship Hall. Pick one up today.
There
is
nothing better that your
kids can do this summer than spend a week at Stronghold. And
there's nothing you can do for them that
is any
greater gift than
sending them on a Stronghold summer camp.

Some
Past Activities
Our Junior and Senior
High youth
partnered with the Youth Group at Kettle Moraine Presbyterian Church in
Stone
Bank. They gathered for dinner and had a chance to get to
know one
another. Both groups participated in the Crop Walk They
also
participated in
a Scavenger Hunt and built a Bon A
Krispy Kreme doughnut sale was held at both churches to raise
money for
Christmas gifts for children which they purchased, wrapped and
delivered to private residences as part of the Angel Tree
program.
They then gathered for a pizza party at Edwardo's A Live Nativity
scene
was staged at Stone Bank School. A
Christmas Party
was
held at KM Presbyterian Church in Stone
Bank, A
Swimming Party was held at
Olympia Resort in
January. Summer activities included an all day outing to Noah's
Ark
Water Park, a family event open to all of our church family.
We are so
thankful for
the
opportunity to meet and partner with other youth in our area. Our youth
seem as
enthusiastic as we are to share ideas and fun times. For more information
about our youth
program, please contact Meg Yost following Sunday worship.
